Welcome

X Masters

The holding of the forthcoming XIV edition of the International Masters Cycling Week is proof that this competition is now fully consolidated as one of the major events of the International Amateur Cycling race calendar.

Statistics have shown a steady increase in participation over the years, not only with respect to the number of competitors but also the number of countries involved, therefore it is hardly surprising that the International Masters Cycling Week is now considered as one of the major events of the amateur category cycling calendar.

Majorca offers a wide range of incentives to cycling enthusiasts, both amateur and professional: the Mediterranean climate, its wide variety of landscape, an excellent communication network to any point in Europe, its highly specialized hotel offer …These advantages situate Majorca, not to mention the Balearic Islands in general, as one of the favourite destinations for the practise of this sport, whatever the season.

In keeping with the programme of previous years, the Balearic Islands International Masters Week will be comprised of three different competitions, including individual classifications and prizes per category; not to mention the Grand Prize awarded to the cyclist achieving the best point-based classification per category (Master 50 & 60 and Seniors, Masters 30 & 40), consisting of a week’s holiday in the Canary Islands, courtesy of Air Europa.

Important note:

Pursuant to UCI regulations Senior category participants will not be allowed to compete in the 2010 edition of the European Masters’ Trophy. However, as this category is officially registered in the R.F.E.C. any Senior category cyclists wishing to do so may participate in the rest of the International Masters’ Cycling Week trials (International Masters’ Trophy and Masters Challenge Tour of Majorca).

The competition calendar will be inaugurated on the 11th October with the classic XIV European in Playa de Palma; four races in which a total of eight categories will vie for the maillot, medal and trophy crowning them as the finest athlete in Europe of this category.

Following the rest day, Tuesday 12th, participants will be invited to compete in the XIV Masters Challenge Tour of Majorca, which is programmed to start/finish on the Maritime Promenade of Palmanova (Calviá); a mainly flat route, with the exception of the Coll de Galilea and the Coll des Tords which will prove to be the testing ground for younger participants who will be expected to ascend twice during the course of the event.

The Masters Challenge Tour of Majorca will be held from Thursday to Saturday and will follow the same circuit as last year; Cala D’or (Santanyí), Inca and Playa de Muro, which for another consecutive year will host the award ceremony and Gala Dinner, in a local hotel, which will count on the presence, as always, of participants, local authorities and sponsors, providing the finishing touch to the programme of the International Masters Cycling Week.

Professional organization, excellent routes and a high competitive level – this has been our formula over the years to ensure the success and continuity, for yet another consecutive year of the Masters International Cycling Week.
